    FYI

Hudson Hornet's were #1 in their day for sure winning on those rough Fairground horse tracks.. There are 4 or 5 of those Tracks listed still racing today, but their smooth asphalt now..(Just think how strong those cars &  drivers were back then to run150 laps thru ruts & bumps without any power assist)....
  • I have often wondered about this phenomenon. Particularly the physical condition of those old drivers.   Did they do any outside-of-car conditioning?   I know this wasn't vogue back in the day and you never heard about it, but it would have been so smart for those guys to have a weightlifting program or at least a cardio building program(in between cigarettes and martinis)  to help for track driving.
Chuck, when were you racing?   I know you don't like to toot you own horn but what was your era?  keith

    Keith,
Im proud to say I raced Hudson's from1956 to 1969. Iniatially, I drag raced Hudson's too but turned to just oval Track racing because it paid money, $69 if won the Heat, Semi, and Feature..(It seemed like a lot of money at the time). First few years I raced a stock class, then went modified with a 366" using equipment purchased from the late Jack Clifford.
