If someone in the club can't come up with one for you, you may want to check eBay which has several early Hudson 1930's wheel pullers for sale.

How about one for a JET ?0
-
A puller for Jet will be the same as those for the other tapered hub/axles, although I can't speak for the very early HE vehicles.

This is the type rear brake drum puller to use for Jet.

Photos of hub remover that Chevy1778 used. See the instructions in an earlier posting.
Hint: Place a bottle jack horizontally in the middle of the "cage" with the end pressed against the axle nut. Then jack it to force the "cage" to move OUT and it pulls the hub off.

Sorry photo did not post to show home made puller. It was a cage with a square steel plate with holes drilled to attach to hub, then weld four legs at each corner long enough for a bottle jack to fit inside cage and weld on another steel plate to the four legs to complete the cage.
Nice set up for those who like making their own tools.

These do come up on ebay occasionally. Not a big job to get machined. I can arrange if you can't find a machien shop locally, but postage will be a bit extra from N.Z.Geoff0

There is an ad in WTN for somebody wanting the same puller for a 31 Essex with a photo of an original. If you can't find one it is a dead simple job for anyone with a lathe, someone on here can make one for you. I'd offer but postage would be expensive. Unless you can wait until the National.0

Well, you just missed this one on Ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wheel-Hub-Puller-1920-1921-1922-1923-1924-1925-1926-1927-1928-1929-Hudson-Essex-/141675805015?hash=item20fc893957&vxp=mtr
The one in this auction, failed to sell: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1920-29-HUDSON-1927-29-ESSEX-TOOL-KIT-WOOD-WHEEL-HUB-PULLER-11074-2-1-2-16-/311367458675?hash=item487ef25f73&vxp=mtr So maybe if you contact the seller and ask him to list it with a lower starting price, he'd do so and you could buy that one. But get some of the experts here to verify it's the right one, first!

Both eBay pullers are the correct type for the 28 Essex. I sold a spare one last year for $20.00 so $75 asking price seems a little rich to me.

Dave--that sounds like something I would do. I shopped around for one for my '36 for about a year. Seems like when I needed one everyone did. They were all going for about 100$. I think I'll keep it this time. This is what makes us "hoarders". Lol...k0

sure seems to me it would be alot better to machine a puller from metal than buy a wooden thats 90 years old,I'm not saying they wouldn't work ok but only see about 9 threads on the wheel and I know how wood reacts to humidity and age.Just hate to ruin a good antique trying to pull a hub.0
-
They are made of either cast iron or steel with a steel central screw.

It did say free shipping. Maybe that will make it more reasonable. Can't hurt to ask if he will sell for less.

Looking at the puller on e-bay Lee ODell, not sure how it could be used on my wheels,Mine just needs to thread onto the threads where the hubcap threads and have a bolt in the center to push against the axle.
this is more like what I need= http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wheel-Hub-Puller-1920-1921-1922-1923-1924-1925-1926-1927-1928-1929-Hudson-Essex-/141675805015?hash=item20fc893957&vxp=mtr
that one is wood according to the description, looks like caste to me but who am I to argue with something I know nothing about.

The ad says for wood wheels, not that it is made of wood! That is the "factory" puller that was included with your new Essex. That is what you need.Good Luck0
