Hydramatic Seal Replacement
I need to replace the transmission seal on my dual-range Hydramatic (1953 Hornet). I have a seal that I can use but it will not accommodate the seal dust cover. The original seal has an overall thickness of approximately 7/8". The replacement seal I bought is only about 7/16" thick and goes completely inside the tail shaft housing. The dust cover fits over the original seal. Does anyone have a part number for the original type seal and where it may be purchased from?
Thanks!
Joe

Hi Joe
U can easily remove the dust cover with bi-scrips and a hammer. To replace your seal. So tranny did not have them is really isn't needed0 -
Joe, I have an extra one on my shelf. National 7037S. Give me an email at rsotardi@yahoo.com.0

I have ordered a couple sizes from Dave Edwards of Autotran. He had a 1" that is for a 51 Olds and also a 3/4".I'll see if they will be usable. He said both of the seals were made by Chicago Rawhide. Thanks to Russ and Ron for the information.0
