My '49 Super Six has very loose steering. I can turn one quarter turn of the steering wheel and wheels don't move at all.
What is the procedure for tightening the play in the box?
Thanks

Before you make any changes in the box... Investigate the center steering play. While observing the center knuckle .Have someone rock the steering wheel back and forth, if there is any up and down movement at the knuckle ,.rebuild that first. It's my opinion that the solid bushing system is the better than replacing the roller bearings. .Most loose stepdown steering is caused by slop in that center knuckle.0

You can also just push up on the center steering arm pivot with your hand. If you can move it at all vertically, you need a new bushing.0
