Possible new stepdown gas tanks
For those of us that would like to purchase a new gas tank instead of re-doing the old ones, I have a question.
Should they be built strictly stock or built with EFI in mind with in tank pump?

All I see on that sight are Honda parts.

Correction made!
I had to order some parts for the Honda engine on my Hustler mower!
Ken in all honesty, I could care less if they are exactly like the stock hudson tank as long as they fit and work properly.
The ones I had "Renewed" arent exactly stock hudson either!
This might also give the ones that want it, an EFI option without a lot of extra work.0 -
I've seen their site before. They make some great products!0

Many years ago I bought a stainless steel "TANKS" gas tank for my 34 Chevy and it fit perfectly. They even increased the size from a stock 10 gal tank to a 18 gallon tank. The last time I saw their catalog the size was reduced to 15 gallons. As thirsty as Hudsons are I would hope a Hudson tank would be at least 20 gallons.
At the moment I have two spare tanks and won't be needing one. But I do recommend "Tanks". If a polyethylene tank is selected I would strongly suggest making a skid plate to protect the underside. The material gouges easily.

I'd like to see it with an EFI option. Maybe something that does both depending on your application.0

I was looking on that site, has anyone tried using a Mustang style tank and putting it in the truck floor? Is there room for that? Just looking at it it seems like it would work.0

A gentleman on the HAMB used a mustang tank. Worked pretty well.0

I think for this to work, it needs to be one stamping. Justin did say that they could build it with the capablility to take the efi pump, but just use a block off plate for non use. The pump has to set in the top of the tank and you will need about 1.25" to run the fuel lines over the top of the tank which means dropping it that much or building a drop into the tank design.
Stainless would be nice but I don't know if they will build them using SS or if so how much extra it would cost. I know it is harder to work with and will wear the dies out a lot quicker.
