Hi guys, a friend of mine would like to know on what car that part would go. Number on the tag reads: 7   4184   8E
Any input will help. Thanks, Michel

    Starter Motor?

It's a starter motor, but I can't find any reference to that number in Motors Manual listings  for Hudson 1935-49, nor 1950-54 manuals.

looks like MZ 4184 to me. Probably 55-57 Wasp? Maybe a letter is obscured.

I found a reference to it being a starter motor fitted to a 1951 Commodore using MZ4184 plugged into google :)

Ken is right...Just for heck of it.. I used a Jet starter on a Hornet I converted to 12 volts.(HydraMatic) Bolted right on .  It was physically smaller but worked great and as far as I know, it's still going 5 years later.

No, it is a MZ 4164, it interchanges with MZ 4167,  used on the 232 motors, as it is a lower torque starter of 4.4 ft/lbs torgue versus 6 ft/lbs for the 262/308 starters. May work OK on the bigger motors if used on a 12V converted car. Also works with 202 Jet from what I can see.....
Easy to see it's a 6 , after you pointed it out . Probably fit's the 55 wasp also? Not sure where I got that info.
