Looks like I have a crack in the 51 308 head on the engine on stand. Cracked below water temp housing. You can't really see it in the picture,
but a very find crack opens up at that spot in the head.
I'd like to find a known good wide block 262 head if anyone has one they would sale.
I'm located in north Fl.

    Kerry,

Just curious.....what's up with the ~65 PSI on the O/P gauge?

No decent 262's, but I do have a couple NOS cast iron 308 heads if you decide to go that route.

Frank, when I shut the engine down, the guage needle stayed there, summit sent me a replacement, waiting on it to replace that one.
Ken, the one I got from Scott checked out at 1.95 after plaining, which is on the edge, I think 1.94 is the minimum. Wonder if anyone would make shims for these like they do for modern heads?

    Kerry,

Which begs the question, "how did it get there to begin with?" but if it stuck there, it was defective anyway.

Have you considered doing a cold repair of the crack with the head where it is? I've used some of the Lock and Stitch products that would do the trick and you wouldn't need to disturb your work (except, of course, to remove the water outlet).

Here's my next crack repair challenge......I hope it works!

Thanks for posting that info, I've been studying the info on there site.
I'd like to try this on one of the cracked manifolds.

That's a good one if it's fairly flat.
