Hello Everyone,

Glad to be a new member of the Forum. I am the latest proud owner of a 1949 Hudson Super Six. It was my father's, and I recently inherited it from his estate.I look forward to learning more about my car, Hudsons in general, and remembering dad, cruising is his Hudson.

Brad, I don't know if you're aware of the Club's website (now that you're a member). It's at http://www.hetclub.org/ and there is lots of helpful information there, including a library of downloadable sales catalogs and repair manuals. There is even a separate Hudson forum.  As a Club member you will have full access.
  • Thanks Jon

Beautiful !!! That is one of the prettiest 49's I have seen. You have every right to be a proud new owner. Your dad has good taste. Where are you located? Hope you can make the 56th Hudson International Meet in Colorado Springs, Co. Aug 11 - 15, 1915.

Nice car Brad.  Does not seem fair that you start out life with a complete/restored Hudson.  As stated before tell us where you live and when we will see your new Hudson.
  • Hey All, thanks for the posts and the warm welcome. I live in San Diego and I'll be contacting the South West Borders Chapter soon, as I think that's my local chapter.

Brownie, I get what you're saying. In my youth, dad and I spent many, many hours together working on projects (cars, airplanes, etc.). Many of my best memories in life are from those days, and they came with a lot of sweat equity. This was one of dad's favorite toys later in his life. I look forward to many years of tinkering and remembering....

Lee, I don't think Colorado Springs is in the cards this year but I hope the Meet is a succes.

Thanks again to all for the welcome. I'm new to Hudsons, so I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions over time.

    Cheers.

    Hello Brad,

Your just down the highway a bit. I am in Burbank. Contact South West Chapter member "Buzz" Stahl at
8887607476054 drop the 888. Great group and Buzz is great to talk to, he know a lot about Hudson. He often comes to our California Inland Chapter meetings in Ontario. Maybe you can hitch a ride with him and we can meet.

The All California Meet is September 17th - 20th at San Simeon Lodge Hotel in San Simeon, Ca. and/or
The 2015 Laughlin Economy Run, Nov. 7th.

Looking forward to meeting you. Bettie and I have plans to be at both events.

  • Hey Lee

Lots of family events happening in September (my wife and I have 5 kids, ranging from middle school to college) so I'm not sure the all California meet will work out this year. I do look forward to getting out there and meeting some fellow Hudson owners though.

Brad, I just reread my post and I must admit that I sound a bit crabby.  Sorry, I did not mean too.  I am over in Utah, but, we work our way down your way for a few meets each year.  Lee mentioned the All Cal Meet, there is also the Laughlin Economy Run, and perhaps a weekend in Henderson in the spring.  The National Meet next year is in Tenn.  Then we will be in your back yard for the National in 2017.  So, there is a lot going on in our area.  I should have my 54 finished soon so it will be great to meet you.  Those kids do grow up fast.  My 14 year old grandson has been helping me this summer and is a lot of fun to be around.  Once again, sorry if I sounded cranky.
  • Hey Brownie,

No worries at all. I think I understand what you were saying. There was a lot of effort and 'love of the craft' that went into this car before it was mine. My dad had a lot of sweat equity in this car and I'm not just proud to own it, I'm proud of my dad for all the work he put into this car. Thanks to him, I'll have something special to cherish. Something tangible with which to remember him...

Things are crazy busy in my life right now (work, 5 kids, etc.) so I'm not sure when I'll be able to travel to HET Club events. But I do look forward to meeting my fellow Hudson owners and showing off my dads handiwork.

    Cheers.
