My dad gifted me a 1941 Hudson super 6 2 door coupe. He had this restored but passed away without even getting to drive it once. I know very little about it but would like to learn. We can't find any info on it. Does anyone know how many were made or if there are very many out there. I would like to learn as much as I can about this car. He had the motor replaced with a chevy 350 crate motor. It is a beautiful car and I would like to honor my dad by learning as much as I can. He was so proud of this car.

Welcome to the Hudson Open Forum, Peggy.  I'm sorry to hear that your father didn't live to enjoy the fruits of his labor, but we're happy to know that you want to keep the car and learn more about Hudsons.

You're now a member of the Forum, so feel free to post questions in any of the categories shown at the left side of the page.  If your dad extensively modified the car, you may want to check into our "Street Rods" category to discuss the car with our experts there.  But for the "Hudson" components, you can generally use the "Hudson" category to ask questions about the car's operation, finding parts, and so forth.

If your interest in Hudsons deepens, you may even want to join the Hudson-Essex-Terraplane Club, which runs this forum and has its own website at http://www.hetclub.org/ .  The Club runs a National Meet (now going on in Colorado) and has about 40 local chapter which have their own activities all around the U.S. And there are independent Hudson clubs in other parts of the world as well.

Do tell us more about your dad's car, and post a photo if you like!
  • These are a couple of photos. The car went to world of wheels in Kansas City. That day my dad was put into the hospital and sent home with Hospice. The car won 2nd place. My dad has been gone for 15 months. This was one of his greatest loves and I did not realize how much he loved me until he gave me this car because I know what it meant to him. He traveled all over the country looking for parts. He tried to do most of the work himself but he was too sick to finish so he sent it out. This was a true labor of love.image
  • This is the day we brought it home.

Peggysue that is a very nice car.  There are several "twins" to you car in the HET national Club roster.  One that comes to mind is the car that Steve Traut owns.  It is is Hudson coupe with a later model Hudson 262 engine installed.  There are some fellas in the mid west that have coupes too, one with a small block Chevy and the other with a 427 Chevy engine.  One guy in California has a sweet coupe that is powered by a Hudson 308 engine.  I would recommend that with your desire to find out all you can about your car... it would be prudent to join the National HET Club and become connected with these folks.  As part of your membership you will receive a National membership roster that lists the cars owned by members.  While this is far from complete, it is a start and those with a love for a particular model are usually in contact with other members who own that model too. Thanks for sharing you and Dad's car.
