You might try addressing the question to Wildrick Rubber Parts, which is now selling many of the parts once sold by K-Gap. They might have some idea.

Thanks Jon B My friends have spent many hours trying to do the install of the trim around the windshield. Ray0

If indeed the problem is hardened rubber, a product by the name of Rubber Renue can be used to soften the part of the seal used to hold the stainless. Actually softening the whole gasket would be best for the installation.0

Thank you for the tip.
Do you think that would work on hard rubber before removing window glass, trying to save the rubber to reuse.

Lee: yes it will, this product was developed for typewriter and teletype rubber rollers and rubber drive parts. I have removed quite a number of OEM Hudson rubber parts, rubbed the renewed on the part, placed them in sealed containers and the part reverts to pliable shape. This is a state that must be maintained by refreshing the application of the product, but it does allow the restoration of pliability to most pieces.

About how long will it take after applying Rubber Renue before removing rubber and glass out of 47 PU. The rubber appears in decent condition without cracks. I would like to save original rubber if possible. I don't like to see the shrink gap at rubber ends I have seen on cars after replacement rubber has been on vehicle a while. Thank you for the information.

I bought the new windshield seal and rear window seal a few years back maybe 3-4 years ago. Ray0

Good common since advice. Sometime I have to be jerked back to reality and get back to using some good old common since. Everything is not written in stone.
Thank you

Lee,
I have used D & L hand cleaner to soften the rear glass rubber on my old 50. I applied it with a small brush for several days, both inside and out. I think I did this over a week and the 2 piece rear window came out just nice. It also went back in nicely too. The rubber hardened back up after a whlie though. I think I kept the rubber in a large plastic trash bag while off of the car. Good luck.
