This may help reduce or eliminate vapor lock. The 3 port fuel filter/vapor separator port, inlet port, outlet port to pump and vapor separator port that line will have to be run back to tank fill pipe.

Another site that deals with the size of the vapor separator port being to large.

Rudy Bennett, last night, told me onto the early Corvette and Early Hemi 3 port fuel filter/vapor separator type fuel filter to help eliminate vapor lock. So I began the search for information about them. That is why I have posted some information about the Mopar and Corvette fuel filters. Recirculating the fuel help cool the fuel and at the same time removes some vapor That would have ended up in the carburetors. These early filters are for carburetors others that look similar are not because they are for fuel injected engines. The Corvette filters are made so the engine can have all steel fuel lines from the pump - filter- carburetors. No more black rubber hoses to collect heat. Yes!!! They are more expensive then the $4 plastic ones.

Lee, That filter is for the Fuel injection cars.
I don't have the filter part # but it is the one for Carburated Engines and is smaller and cost lots less. Hope others will have a part #.

I used a Fram G3583 but it got crossed to a Wix number at O'reillys which is working well. The return line orface seems to have enough restriction without modifying at least so far in the initial test runs. Doug

hudsn47 do you have the Wix part # and what size hose do we use on the Inlet and the outlet and the orface tube. Thanks so much.0

It's WIX 33040 inlet 5/16 outlet 5/16, vapor 1/4. Think I used 1/4 hose inch for all three connections and that was the size of the tubing. Doug

Hope Lee Odell will see the Part #

Just going through Walt Mordenti's Tech Book page 39 that cover the procedure for installing the return line. He mentions the Chrysler 3 outlet filter and says he is using Fram #G3583 (fits AMC). He says there are two (5/16th inch) outlets and one (1/4 inch) outlet. Probably the same size hoses for Wix filter. He also explains how to made a fitting that goes in the vapor line to reduce the vapor hole size from .060" to .030".
I went to Reilly's to day an bought one WIX 33040. First time I bought a fuel filter that does not include hoses and clamps. I checked the depths of in, out and vapor pipes against what was posted in MOPAR THREAD discussion I posted. ( CHECK OUT REPLY #2 ), pictures show differences in filters. GOOD AND BAD.
The WIX 33040
CAN length 2.375
TUBE - all three lengths 3/4 inch
IN pipe depth 1 inch
Out pipe 3 inches
VAPOR pipe 3 inches
VAPOR hole size approx. .060. A .045 diameter paper clip is loose in hole.
Top marked IN
Bottom marked FL USA
I am curious about why the IN tube is shorter than measurements in following REPLY #30 and what difference it makes.

Ok, .
I pulled one today to do a comparison on them -- good versus bad
Overall can size is the same @ 2.25" can height x 3" can diam
on both the hose fittings protrude the same @ 5/8" on all 3 fittings and is figured into the overall length of the fittings
Now comes the differences
Pipe lengths are measured with a paper clip going all the way up inside the fitting to determine overall pipe length
Inlet fitting length
Good one - 2.5"
Bad one - 1.25"
Outlet to carb fitting
Good one - 3"
Bad one - 1.25"
Smaller return line fitting
Good one - 3"
Bad one - 1.25"
Good one has the markings TOP stamped on the top of the can and IN stamped in the bottom of the can
OUT
Bad one has no markings of any kind on the can

I have never read so much information on a fuel filter before.
Thank you everyone for your information. Thank you Rudy for bringing this filter to my attention and to Walt Mordenti for aditional information on return line installation instructions.
Maybe I will get a FRAM G3583 filter for my 47 PU and check its measurements.
