Tease!
My buddy is moving into a new home, and the sellers have this sign.
He didn't think he could get it for me, but sent me a pic to tease me with.
I guess I could get my sign painter to replicate it.

Wow, that's a rarity! I think that is one of those painted or silkscreened signs (as opposed to the porcelain ones) that were nailed to the sides of barns or trees, out in the country. The dealer bought them and had his name applied at the bottom. They indicated where the nearest Hudson-Essex dealer was. But since they were cheap tin they rusted away -- as opposed to the porcelain dealer signs that survived even under the most adverse conditions. And of course, while the porcelain signs were attached to a building and were obviously valuable, the tin signs were considered throw-aways. Being out in the public, they were targets for vandalism and theft. The only time you find something like this, is in brand new condition, in a shipping crate that was never opened. Or in the attic of an old dealership.
I have a mint one that advertises the nearest Buick Service Station, with the name of the Buick dealer in Winesburg, Ohio. I discovered it in the closed general store the fellow also owned, and his then-elderly daughter sold it to me. Of course, that was almost 50 years ago....

Thanks for your reply Jon.

It seems the "Hudson Super-Six" letters are embossed. Is that the case here? Anyway, I agree with Jon B. in that the sign is indeed a rarity. Thanks for sharing the photo!

Well here goes part two of my buddies sign sarga.
I've been crook with the flu, so haven't been on the inter web for a week or so, and just got his latest email.
He was digging about behind one of his barns, and struck gold.....
Hudson gold. Its a little rusty, but I'm betting no one here would let that bother them.
I jokingly told him I think I hate him. He already has this one hanging up.
