Hudson's built between April and October 1954

I have had several e-mails and comments about "AMC Built Hudson's."  Some have told me they had a special ID Plate and a different painted oil filter and such.  Does anyone have any photos or documentation that Hudson did this?  Mine (1954 Hudson Hornet Special Coupe built in September) does not have anything like this that I can find.  Just curious....

My 1954 Hornet Club Coupe does not have anything different for identification than any of the 1948 thru 1953 Hudsons - Not even a sticker indicating American Motors as the parent co.

Several years ago I worked on a 54 Hollywood Vin#7318901 . I am sure someone can determine the build date. It had Twin H. The air cleaners (dry) Had AMC decals along with the Twin H decals. They were the later rounded carb end like the Hash variety. Also had front seat belts with AMC labels sewn in. The radio had a drivers side fender mount antenna and was installed at the factory. The fender would have to have been removed to install it. I seriously doubt a dealer would go to that trouble.

Dave  -  I Installed many of those in left front fender radio antennas during the 1953-54 period and found that you simply had to remove the rear inner fender panel for access to mount the antenna straight and to be able top stabilize it.  That was a great antenna, they almost entirely disappeared into the fender - only about 3 to 4 inches sticking up when it was fully retracted.

My '53 Super Wasp also has the left fender mounted antenna.  The last Hudson Service Merchandiser for the stepdown era (July , 1954) has instructions for fender antenna installation.

Also, my Super Wasp has the Twin H paper filter canisters ('55 Hash type).  The decals on the canisters say Hudson Motor Car Co. and what type of Fram filter to use as well as "Twin H".   There's no mention of American Motors anywhere on the decals.

RL, my 54 Hornet Special, SN # 6298235 was assembled in early April, 7 cars before D.J. Kava's car.  Perhaps mine is the oldest?
