Thanks guys, don't know why more people don't get their cars out for all to enjoy, instead they lock them up in sheds so nobody can see them, On show were cars like Studebaker,Cadillac,Chevrolet,Jaguar and many more makes.

    Cool.  Good for you, Les!

We have a similar problem here in the States; lotta beautiful Hudsons remain garaged on weekends, only show up at Hudson meets.  Result: show spectators have no idea what a Hudson is.  When one does show up, it's the object of much curiosity!
  • At the car show....Uhhhh.  Who makes Hudson? Question...Answer.  Hudson MotorCar Co, Detroit, Michigan.  Hmmm. Just learned something new.. Sure is a beautiful car!!!
  • Well down in Melbourne Australia we had the "All American Car Show" at Flemington Race Course on 13th Sept - approx. 800 cars confirmed attendance (from their website) and only 1x  1939 Hudson and 1x 1936 Terraplane, 1x Hudson hot rod ute :-)

We had heaps of people asking about the Hudson Brand. A few asked why they never saw them and many said they have seen pictures of them - but never in real life - really enjoyed the day with my 36T and Glen with his 39H had a great time also

Would have to agree with Jon B - get them out and about :-)

    cheers Ken

    Well, they're both beautiful.
  • Back in 1978 the 1936 Terraplane looked like this. It was restored by our club sec. Phil Haxby 1978-1982 and its been on the road some 33 years - I'm its luck owner the past 3.  Glen's 1939 just been restored and on the road less than six months.  cheers Ken

Some gremlin stole my pic from the above post. Hope it is here this time around.
  • Lovely to hear a bit about the background of the car - kind of makes it more than just a picture of a car I think - hope you are planning on going to the 2016 national HET meet at shepparton - would love to see it in the flesh - cheers ken

A little more history....Hal bought it from a gentleman from N.J. Dad picked it up at Doc's meet. Drove it to Florida. That was in the mid "70's" as I recall.  The story was .. It was bought new in 42,and shortly the owner went to Europe during WW ll. He never returned. The car was stored in a windowless garage. When his widow passed away, there was an auction. The buyer made the purchase and went around the block to get his trailer. In the mean time someone stole the spare tire out of the trunk!.. This car was called "A foreman's friend". Because It had some Commodore trim items although it is a Super. In actuality, All manufacturers were curtailing chrome and painting trim. Part of the war effort. No doubt that Hudson was dumping chrome trim in advance. The drive Master instructions were still on the sunvisor. There was no radio, but I found a radio and antenna with installation kit in a closed Hudson Dealership in Georgia. My father bought it and we installed it. Repaint was done in lacquer and with great care to keep it as original as possible. I don't think any door jambs were painted. just the deteriorated outer surfaces and hand rubbed with care.  Glad to see it found a great home.
  • Here is another AUS. car, 1930 Hudson Super 8 Brougham 62000 original miles had 11000 miles when my Dad bought it in 1973, it is the only one we know of in AUS.
