Identify straight eight
Hello
Can someone help me to identify the straight eight i bought for my racecarbuild so i can order right parts for it. I cant find any number in top of it between 7 and 8 exhaust valves. The only number I can see is the castingnumber and a number front left, see picture. The frame is a Essex 1930.

That number would indicate a 1930 engine, but a pic of the complete block would help to identify it.0

150001 is a 1936 Hudson 8. The casting date translates to Nov. 13, 1935 which is logical for a 1936 model year installation.Hope this helps,"Ric"0

In Dale Coopers list its difference between the earley models, I know that its thinner valvsteams and some diffrence in fuelpumps and some gaskets. Are some parts interchangeable between the models?0

Big difference in bore size the early 8s have a 2 3/4 in bore the later are 3 in bore hope this helps.0

36-37 have the larger valve stems and guides, '38s and on have the smaller ones. Later guides and valves will fit the 36-37 blocks if a changeover is desired.0
