1955 Hornet Transmission problems

Our 55 Hornet automatic transmission has started making noise and chattering after driving, when warmed up...
I'm about to service it but have little hope that will solve the problem. We plain to pull our 1959 Shasta Airflyte camp trailer next spring, so now's the time to go through the transmission. Where is the best place to get parts for the transmission? Thank you for any help and advice!

Looking at pics of your beautiful car,I noticed it seems to be a V-8.  This would mean you are dealing with the Packard Ultramatic.  Much different from the Hydramatic .  Will need someone who knows these Packard transmissions.

    Good Luck,

Where are you located? As there might be other ultramatic rebuilders close by with better prices. Also, if it has to be rebuilt, the 1956 version is much better, as they took most of the bugs out, ( too late to save Packard) and it will bolt right in.

The 1956 version also has an aluminum case which runs cooler, as too much heat dooms these transmissions. Also, install a transmission cooler in front of the radiator, as the factory one is useless.

Never had any problems with my '56 with this setup, and shifts smoother than any other from this time period.

Can also try packardinfo..com, as they have a nice FREE forum like this one.
