Crap in the fuel system is a possibility. When inertia of slowing occurs crud/crap chokes off the fuel to carb.

  • Do u adjust the float level with the rod on the side of the carb? ?

Float level adjustment requires carb disassembly.Go to my web page and select fuel systems. When on that page there are carb manuals.

  • Actually just remembered there's one in my hudson manual
  • Tried getting them to pop up but it says direct link to page not allowed when I try to open them

May I suggest something first before you go whole hog.  Is it a Carter Carb, 1 barrel, 2 throat?  If it is this is what I do about every 2 months, based on the crappy gas we got.  On  the top of the carb to the right of the throat you will see a cap, says Carter on it.  Has two screws.  Take that top off carefully not to disturb the gasket.

You will then see two long brass rods on a arm. They squirt the gas in the carb.  WD-40 the crap in there trying to get WD-40 down into inside of the carb.  Then see that silver looking big plug.  Take it off and you will see a copper mesh filter.  You know what to do there.  Now when you punch the carb taking off from a stoplight, and it works fine, then that means your jets get stuck from the corn in the gas.  If youstill get glitches then hello overhaul. As everyone says make sure gas is clean. Happy Hudsoning

  • Yes it's a Carter carb and 1 barrel

Cut and paste the address into your web browser
  • Cleaned up the carb and adjusted it runs better but it still missed and hesitated and stalled , did notice the fuel pump when the motor gets hotter it sucks less fuel, I've always had a back up electric fuel pump by the back wheel, so I bypassed the original mechanical fuel pump and just ran the electric pump, the filter stays half full even when full throttle, but I don't know if the electric pump will last long being on the whole time your driving??
  • Never thought to check the intake bolts all of em where loose, runs like brand new again , happy as hell
