HUDSON BROUGHAM

I found this while surfing---

Isn't it a Super six (longer wheelbase) Sedan?  Isnt this a fairly rare body style?  I've seen quite a few shorter wheelbase Two-door sedans, not many big ones.

FYI

Comments

  • It's a '50 Pacemaker Brougham, the 2 dr. sedan body, a short wheelbase car. Bottom of the line for that year. Pretty rough collection he's got there, but it's good that he's giving some one a shot at it rather than just junking them.  I see that he isn't showing the right front very clearly......there's a reason for that.

F    I think   possibly he's doing that isn't because  he wants to see these cars saved. ( although that may be true) I think it's more like good business. Scrap steel is going for about 2.75/cwt.   Waaaaaaay down from where it was a couple of years ago at about 10.00/cwt.   He would get more by selling these hulks to car guys than he would get by selling them to a metal processer

  • From the cowl rearward these SWB cars will interchange  sheetmetal  parts with the LWB cars.

Oh, I don't know.  I once went to Id. to pu a Hudson.  3875 mile round trip.  To pick up a car no one in the world wanted but me.  Guess it just depends on your motivation.

You are right Russell, Glen Johnson and I were standing besides the convertible and I made the comment that it was beyond restoration (I was new to Hudson's at the time).  The owner told us that he had just sold the car.  You are right about your motivation.

This 49 Super was wrecked. Hit in the left front cowl area making it almost an inch narrower than original!  I grafted a 51 Hornet cowl piece in. All the good parts had been removed. Just a shell! I didn't restore it. I "resurrected" it, Over three years and counting. Including lots of help from others on the forum. Parts from 18 states!! '53 262 engine, 54 HydraMatic transmission and lots of mixed up Step down trim. Next project is a 3.07 rear end.

I love the proportions of a two door.
