where to install amp gauge

I've had my 6 volt generator (52 Hornet) rebuilt, new armature, field coils ect. As am still having charging issues the rebuild shop suggested I install a 0-30 amp gauge to monitor the charge rate. Where in the wiring circuit should the gauge be installed?

Lift the wire off the "B" terminal of the voltage regulator that comes from the  starter solenoid.   Connect this to the ammeter, and then take a wire from the other side of the ammeter back to that same "B" terminal on the regulator.  I can blow up that section of the wiring diagram if you want and email to you.
