Rear bumper over riders

I have some parts for the Hudson Accessory rear bumper part # HA-211125, fits 48-50. There is one on ebay now. I am curious as to what the length of the cross bar is.  And more importantly.. A picture of one installed would be nice. Anyone have a pic?  Is there any pictorial "instructions" available anywhere on line?

I am thinking it would be a pain to lift the spare tire over that thing!

I was told by long time Hudson owner the over rider bar will bend over and damage the body if someone should bump into it. I was going to get one for the front end on my 52 Hudson I thought for better protection until I hear that. Lee O'Dell

They are just for "looks"..  The front one does have some pretty heavy bars holding the bottom in and has the original guard behind it. but the rear one is even more likely to do damage since it seems to just clamp to the bumper bar. not sure what a front or rear one looks like for the 51-54.. was there one available?.

These are the only ones I've seen for the later step downs.  Personally, I think they are butt-ugly, but, hey, that's just me.  I have a beautiful set of fog lights like on this car I was going to put on the convertible and when I was trying to ascertain their precise placement, Vicki came out and said, "You're not going to put those on the car, are you? I mean, do what you want, but why clutter up an already busy grille area?"

To me, the same logic applies with the extra bumper brackets.  Additionally, as if it wasn't already a chore to clean that grille, the extra bars would even make it tougher.  Good thing we all have different tastes.

I thought I had one of the rear of this car, but can't locate it.

I agree.. Unless you want to use it as a push car at the drags... Butt ugly. But I would like to see the 48-49 rear end version. NOT THAT I WANT ONE!

I agree, compared to the car behind, with it's clean bumper, the convertible  looks  a little cluttered. But as the saying goes, "whatever rocks your boat"!.  for instance, my  53 Hornet now sports the  complete triangle  in the grille.  It looked as though something was missing.  And  I wonder about of the paradox of having a convertible with a sun shade!

I have now determined that the 48-49 front and rear over riders use the same cross bar. I bought two at the Nats in Detroit. both had markings (by the seller) that they are for front and rear. I am still a little confused as to how they mount on the rear. A copy of the installation instructions would help a lot towards manufacturing the required hardware.
