41-54 Front Shocks
The 48-49 mech manual gives specs for the front shocks as 12"ext and7.3/4 comp. but the 42-47 book shows no Specs.
Do these models take the same size shock as the stepdowns?
From reading the replacement listed for 48-54 is Monroe #31176 or #5751.
Can either of these shocks be used on the 41-47?
What is more important the extended or compressed length as the two mentioned shocks above are on each side of the factory specs?
Any experience troubles using either one out there?
Thanks

I have the 31000 listed for the rear and the 31176 listed for the front
The front is mounted on the rods top and bottom whereas the rears are tube mounted both ends
I just did some measurement on 47 and 49 front ends and they are essentially the same. If fact, I believe they used some leftover 47s on the 48s
The shock doesn't travel very much. as in the attached sketch..which I can't attach. What gives?.
