Pretty sure under the hood is not original, but from the few pics looks nice:

  • 'all original'  & 'Allison transmission'   are not quite the same thing. LOL

I assume that Allison is actually GM hydro since GM used to own Allison.  I agree the $20K makes it a tough sell.
  • Dan, hard to say actually. In 54 Hudson used BG automatic  and GM  hydramatic. I'm not sure if this guy knows what he's talking about. It also has a 52-53 intake manifold, not origiinal to the 54. The blue engine Ken mentioned may be a JC Whitney replacement as Whitney had a number of surplus 308's bought from AMC  painted blue. Saw one in a crate a few years ago at an auction. In any event I think the term 'all origional' is used a bit loosely here. I'll give the seller a break on his knowledge of Hudsons  as it's obvious to Hudson folks that all origiinal it is not.

Maybe he is talking down the mountain and with a strong tailwind.

I had my All Original '52 HHSedan downhill with strong tailwind.  Started out at 80 at the crest and maxxed out at 126mph.  It 'twas a hill and not a mountain, maybe my run wasn't steep enough or long enough.  However, I believe the 138 is probably stretching and I've never seen that figure advertised before.  Seen 105mph.

Question on the JC Whitney replacements:  Did they come with Twin-H or did you still have to source that?  If they came with it, were the air cleaners blue to match?

The JC Whitney engines came with Twin H. I will find the pictures I have of engines still crated with JC Whitney labels

Two different 56 Crate engines... both blue paint... both aluminum heads, both twin H - 55-56 manifold.   No indication of the Air Cleaners in the crates, but the ad published in the JCW and W catalogs show paper cleaners on the Hornet and the 202 motors being peddled.

  • Wow!   Back when your postman delivered you a rebuilt engine for you Hudson!   I'd leave him a hell of a Christmas bonus!...k

Thanks Oldfarmer for posting those.  You had probably showed me those before, but if so, I had forgotten details.
