Just curious but did the V-8's originally have "Clipper" on the valve covers? Seems odd.

Someone probably got them from a Packard car's V8 and since this is a Packard V8 they will fit just fine. Not AMC factory issue.

Or you can apply the Clipper decal on the valve covers.
