Removing broken off spark plugs with an oxy torch
Watched this demo at the Laidley Pioneer Village today, that's a 34/5 Terraplane head that has 2 broken off spark plugs, the torch is a standard oxy acetylene cutting torch. The process requires a deft touch.
What's left of the plug (the porcelain is gone of course) is maybe 2mm thick and heats to red heat very quickly, but the threads in the head are still relatively cool. A touch on the oxygen burns a gap down the plug wall but leaves the head threads untouched. Repeat at 180° to the first cut and now you have a broken off plug in 2 halves. Remove the 2 halves, run a tap down the thread, job done, damn impressive.

Good fix for the problem maybe, but a cutting torch+ shorts+ open loose socks...
They must be tough...
