what oil to use

I am doing the shocks on the 30 Hudson and the ref. sheet says to use Wahl Hydraulic Fluid is it the same as Hydraulic Oil we use in earth moving equipment?

Over the years I have used 30 grade engine oil right through to 90 grade gear oil what are your thoughts?

Spencer, I used 90 grade gear oil in my '29, and they worked fine.  They were a a bit worn, and ordinary hydraulic or engien oil did not make them very effective.

I found the 90 gear oil the best just didn't know if it might be too heavy, I will go that way again.
