Rock guard & fender dust flap material

All, what material is being used to replace missing inner fender dust shields that are stapled to the inner fender sheet-metal. I am considering using 1/8" Neoprene Sheet Rubber.

Ken thanks for the input.

Where did you find a stapler strong enough to punch through the sheet-metal or did you reuse the existing staple holes.

I noticed on my sheet-metal that material was between the firewall and the inner fender panel did you also use the canvas in this location.
