1928 Essex prop shaft lube?
Hi again folks,
I'm not sure how to go about greasing the prop shaft UJ's. The shop manual shows a "casing plug" but no visible grease nipple anywhere in the diagram. Do I just remove the casing plug and use the grease gun to squirt grease into the casing, or is there some better method? As always, your help is much appreciated.

You're the man Geoff! Thanks as always0

The grease could blow out the seal, so do it slowly..In 1931 there was a hole in the cover on the opposite side for the plug, so you could see the grease come out and know it was properly lubed.I have debated drilling a hole but have not done it yet.Be sure to remove grease nipple and reinstall the plug. This per the 1931 service letterHans0

There is no need to replace the grease nipple, just leave it there. I have had one in my Essex for 60 years! And do not drill any holes.Geoff0
