I see this tail light assembly on Ebay.

Can anyone identify the year?  I also wanted to know if the half that the lens is mounted in would fit on the base from a 35 Terraplane?  I have the original base on my car by discovered during rewiring the car that the lens half is a modified Ford part.  I've read on the Forum that the lens half was prone to break thus the Ford part. Thanks for any help.

I would have thought that was a '36, just looking at it.  Can't tell for sure.

But, given its condition, I think it may be rather expensive.  Didn't know these things could command such a price.  Have you written to some of the Hudson vendors who regularly advertise in the WTN, to see if they might have one?  (A photo and sketch with some dimensions would be helpful, since many people may not be acquainted with this older stuff.)

Wildrick Rubber/ Restoration  lists the main housing/bucket for less than $100. These are new production, chrome plated, for right or left.  Much better solution than overpriced antique brass that will soon crack, if
    it hasn't already.

Jon,  you are correct with your identification!  Is for 1936.

Wow!  Didn't know Wildrick was making the housings!  Cool!

Ric, Thanks for information on Wildrick. I'll check with them. Tom
  • Believe Wildrick has been out of stock of them for ages. The price on ebay is about right. I waited 2 years before finding one for $85 complete on ebay setup as a bedside lamp and lucky to be unmolested or modified. (just had to unscrew it from the wooden base stand) - be  aware that the base is different left and right

see that light you saw on ebay went for $375 at the end of the auction   - so if you're still interested a 1936 complete stoplight with licence plate holder has popped up on ebay at $60 plus cheers Ken
