1946 Hudson Commodore

I bought the car about two years ago. I have been slowly working on it. I been busy with my 1960 Studebaker lark almost finish with building it into a hot rod. When i bought the Hudson in Colorado. I was surprise that there was no rust (cancer) just surface rust. The Hudson was parked for 40 years. The motor is locked up really bad that it bent my breaker bar. It has chalk marks on the roof and inside the seat frame. The car only has 65,000 miles on it. It even has the original dealership sticker on it in the rear window.
My idea on it is more of a restomod. modern drive train and make it modern but on the outside look really original. I was thinking of a mustang 2 suspension. What suspension works better? Because i want to have disc brakes in it and some safety in the car so my family is safe when we drive it. Haven't really decide on the motor or transmission yet, any ideas? This year i want to do the tear down all the way down to the frame and get the frame worked on. This car deserve a big restoration/ restomod.
I am missing on part and that is the bottom clip in the center of the grille. If anyone has one i am willing to buy because i cant find one in nevada. I am glad i joined the Hudson club!
Sincerely:
Sean Coffey

    Welcome to the Forum, Sean!

You said you've joined the Hudson club -- I assume you mean the H-E-T Club?  If so, one thing you might want to do is to look through your national roster to see if there are any '42 owners living near you.  They could be helpful if (in researching the "resto" part of your "resto-mod" project) you need any advice, or need to see that the original parts looked like, or how things were put together.  Must Hudson owners are happy to help other Hudson owners out in this way.

Also, when asking questions about modifying your car's drive train or brakes, you might want to post that particular question over at the "Street Rods" section, because a number of people there will undoubtedly have some good ideas as to which drive train choices are the best.

Also, do check out the calendar at the Hudson club website (http://www.hetclub.org/) to see if there are any local or regional meets being held near you.  It always pays to tap into the network of owners and you might find some needed parts or advice as well.
