254 - 8 harmonic balancer interchange?

Will a harmonic balancer/crank pulley off of any Hudson sixes (212?) work on a 254 or does it have to be from an 8? Again, thanks in advance!

    You can use any dampener 1934 thru 1947, and probably up to 1952 8 cyl.    They used the same for 6 or 8 cyl.

    The 166301 Vibration Dampener is specified for all '46 and '47.

    It's also for all '38 to '42 but with an earlier p/n (155480), superseded by the above #.

    If you look at the Hudson  interchange manual, the part given for  the '34-'36 dampener says to use the later '38-'42, which says to use the  '46-'47.   8's continued up to 1952, and I am not aware of any differences in  the dampener for those years.   It may have been in the construction, but the nose on the crank is the same size.
