Rear Main Rope Seal Rotation?
When pulling the rear main cap on the 308 I discovered the reason for the oil leak. Appears the rope seal either rotated or was installed incorrectly. The block portion of the seal appeared well seated and the groove was full. The old seal was oil soaked and basically mushy. I agree on pulling the crank to replace the seal and packing. My hats off to anyone that can do it otherwise let alone with the engine in the car. Hope to have everything completed and running prior to Chattanooga. Doug

Ken, great write up and pictures really helps. I can see where practice makes perfect with this operation and also to go slow and steady. Thanks!0
