S/D vent window gears
To dredge up an old subject, I have done the vent window gear replacement job on our Hornet and would illustrate it here but I can't get images to work here. So, I've posted them on the "other" site with the title "Vent window gears for stepdown Hudsons.
Have a look if you're interested.

all you do is 'attach a file{the photo}'; others click on the thumbnail that you would post and it goes to full screen.
Just keep clicking and you can line up many photos , just like on the other forum.
Assume that is what you are referring to.
They will go larger here than on the other one; I just checked yours.0 -
Odd. It took one image but just went on and on and on and .......It wouldn't allow me to add any more, in fact, I had to shut the whole danged thing down to get it so stop grinding. Obviously, I'm not a computer whiz. My default reaction is to give up.

Size of image is restricted on this forum0

The upload size does have a limit on it which is 50MB or 50,000KB. Not a massive size I grant you but looking on the other site Frank your pictures are all less than 2,000KB each so that limit shouldn't be an issue. I'll pull them across from there and drop them into this discussion0

Images from other site with Frank's comments; these have been added as attachments and also embedded inlineI'll try an image or two and add more if it works.

Thanks for the assistance. Next time I'll refer to your instructions and maybe not need help......maybe.
If computers (and digital cameras) had pistons and gears and made smoke, I'd be right at home. I've been told that smoke from a computer is a bad thing.

I'm still unable to explain why the Ford gear failed to allow sufficient rotation to fully close the vent window.
Possibly it will work OK on the passenger's side but I haven't determined that yet. True, they're mirror image parts but I can't visualize if the gears would be exactly the same or not. I get a headache if I try. I have a r/h gear-set I can compare it to....later.

Think I follow the belts. Believe the only belt missing would be the one from the front crank pulley groove, to the WP and then to the PS and back. If so, you might be concerned with the driven wrap {90 degrees or so} on the water pump pulley having to drive EVERYTHING. I almost had that problem on mine, since it is also around 90 degrees, but I made the belt very tight and it is doing ok now; had a squeal initially.
HOWEVER, my A/C is driven by the crank pulley and wasn't envolved in the belt torque needed on the driven WP pulley, driving only the water pump, power steering and the alternator. Just an observation~~0 -
Ken, I think you mentioned that to me earlier but I had forgot it. I almost got into trouble with the wrap; even thought about another idler to push for better wrap. And still don't like the belt tension, but have several hundred miles on it now and it is not slipping anyway. I should have known better since all your work is First Class !!! {check your messages/email on the 'advance'}0
