Backup fuel pump

This has been covered before, but I can't find the thread. I want to install a fuel pump for priming the carbs on my 51 Hornet. I do not want to abandon the mechanical pump, I just want a backup and priming pump. I recall there was a thread covering the parts numbers that have been proven. The car has been converted to 12v neg ground. Can someone please hook me up?
Thanks

Have an industrial marine pump on my 51 Hornet. Walbro model FRD-2. The basic pump has been around a long time. This pump only runs on demand, will dry lift 48" and has low current draw with very long service life. If you decide to use this pump, be aware that their are vendors selling Chinese knock-offs.0

My HOLLEY elec pump { looking straight up}; also the FMco elec fuel pump safety shut off mounted in trunk. Pump for prime and backup; if mech. fails(not ruptured diaphragm) or vapor lock. Clear filter between tank and pump { I have lift so checking and changing is easy}. But I do want to drop tank, clean off undercoating, and finish in flat silver.0

I installed this in-line one in the engine bay a few years ago. Works brilliantly - for when the car has been sitting for a week or more. A discreet push button under the dash activates, a few seconds is all it needs. I know some will not like it being visible under the bonnet but I am OK with it .

I recommend an Airtex E8012 (12V). Install it in line as close to the fuel tank as possible. Watch out for the rear stabilizer bar. Run an electric line(14 Guage) from the ignition terminal on the key assembly to the pump and ground the pump as per instructions. These pumps are "free flow", that is, fuel will not be restricted when the auxiliary pump is off. That makes them perfect for priming. They are cheap, check on Ebay. BTW, place a ON/Off toggle switch between the IGN terminal and the pump.0

These pumps are also available from airtex in 6 volt with different preset pressure. I have a 1-3 lbs. pump on my 29 with the updraft carb. And a 5-8 lbs. pump on a flathead with dual carb's. They are rotary pumps and not affected by the new gas and can be used with the original pump installed. I've had to replace three of the pulse type electric pumps on my cars because the new gas ruined the rubber check valves in the pumps and the rubber diaphragm in a pressure regulator. The rotary pumps don't need a pressure regulator and are the same size as an inline fuel filter..They are available in most parts stores and on eBay. Ed Moore0
