6v-12v Conversion complete....reducer question

It's normal for it to get hot, as you've stated. And it will get hotter with the blower on HI, since there's more current going through it. I like to use a "ceramic stick" type resistor and fasten it inside the heater housing. That way it's not where anyone can touch it, and some of the heat is transferred to contact with the metal housing.

the local o'Reilly's have them {at 10% VA discount}; at least they do here.0

If you still want to go the resistor route, one source for such resistors is Mouser Electronic. www.mouser.com. Search under “power resistors” or “wire wound” resistors. Mouser number for the 1 ohm 50 watt is 284-HS50-1.0F. I believe that number is a type that's especially convenient . . . it's a molded unit and has two mounting lugs built in.

If I change the motor, won't I eliminatec the use of the stock knob and light?0

If you remove the resistor and change out the blower motor to a 12v one, the only negative is that when you use the low speed setting on the switch, the motor won't slow down as much as it did originally (reason: the 12v motor draws less current, thus the resistor doesn't drop as much voltage as it did on 6v).
As for the light in the blower switch, just change it out to the 12v equivalent.

Ok forget that dumb question, I wasn't near the piece.0 -

Thanks Ken, ordered it.0
