Anyone have a bolt or know the length and thread size for the crankshaft on a 212 engine? Any help greatly appreciated.

Which bolt?   Flywheel, connecting rod, Vibration Dampener?

It's 3/4-16 UNF, but the original capscrew (most would call it a bolt) has a special head with 1-1/2 inch hex. Seems to me there were 1-7/16 hex-heads on early engines. The head is large so that it bears on the outer body of the dampener and not on the crankshaft end. Those are two separate parts that must remain independent of one another for the dampener to work correctly.

Thanks for the reply. I would need that bolt plus the locking washer that locks the pulley to the shaft where it is grooved as the machine shop lost the original ones it had.imageimageimage

Yikes!!! Senior Moment Alert!!!  I just re-read my post and realized that I said the exact opposite of what I meant. It should have read ".......not on the body , but only on the hub of the dampener/damper." Note in your photo that the hub protrudes slightly beyond the body. This is by design so as to allow independent movement of those two parts.

I'm sure someone will jump in and supply you with the bolt/washer.

  • Frank  You need to think, before you type !!!

I don't do that before I speak so why do it before I type? I do find it interesting that no one corrected me in the fairly long time since I posted that.

I'm glad I bumped into you at the Nats.....Made me feel right at home with the verbal abuse and all.

I appreciate any and all help. I own a Auto shop here in Las Vegas, Nevada and love the Hudson brand cars. I do dislike some of the headaches with finding parts and accessories for them but that comes with the territory. If it was easy everyone would be doing it. Thanks again guys.
