Are you looking for the packing material for the cap-to-block joint? There was originally no rear main seal in those engines, so if you mean that, then it doesn't exist.

If the former, I think Dale Cooper can supply it.....I recall it on the list of stuff in "Gaskets".

Also, look for a restricted or blocked drain tube, that little brass tube with the "flapper" valve on the bottom end, or the drain hole in the rear main cap itself.

    Sydd,

There are a couple of other possible sources for leakage from threaded holes through the rear adapter plate into the block. Some are "through holes" into the crankcase. I wouldn't expect those to cause a great deal of leakage volume. I have too much of the packing material here so I can send some if you like. There's always plenty in the gasket sets and it doesn't need to be a continuous piece. I have a few of the cork gaskets for the slinger housings as well which could also be a source or contributor to your leak.

I like to work some silicone sealant into the "rope" as I pack it into the hole with a blunt punch. A little in the upper corner of the block and a very thin coat along the rear edge of the cap-block interface is advisable, too.

Excessive rear main bearing clearance may overload the drain-back passage, dumping the excess past the slinger and out the back.

I have some asbestos rope which we have used for 30 or 40 years to pack the rear main bearing, if you need some give me a call, as I said used it for years and has never done me any harm, at least not that I know of.
