There is a wealth of information available about the famous 7X engine regarding cam grinds, valve diameter, exhaust manifold etc.

Anyone know offhand if there was a specific cylinder head available back in the day?

Ken's site does have an exellent article on the 7x engine development, a very interesting read.

 I learned among other things that Hudson made a couple of prototype performance straight 8 engines c/w full pressure oil system that did rival the 7x six engine . Unfortunately they decided to scrap the few engines that were built.
