Unsure of year

I was told it was a 1929, but unsure. Couldn't really tell from the vin plate either since there was no model #

    It's a 1927 Essex Super Six Coach.
  • Thanks Geoff. Were you able to figure that out from the vin plate or the body?
  • Any other info you can tell me from the vin plate would be nice. I'm just curious and interested more then anything

From the picture it looks like a fairly nice body.

In general the Hudson serial number told only the model of car (Super Six, Terraplane Deluxe, etc.) and the sequence of manufacture.  It's not a "VIN" in the modern sense of the word, with all sorts of information about the car.
  • Yeah the body is actually in really good shape. The pic I posted is actually of the bad side, nothing is rusted though except in one spot and it's pretty small considering it was laying on that side in a field for who knows how long??? As you can tell it also has a few bullet holes Thanks John for the info. So if I was to have just found that vin plate laying in a field. How could I have figured out it came off of a super 6? Is a number sequence?

Both the Serial number and the eyeballing of the photo gave me I.D.  of the body.   To confirm I looked up Butlers "History of Hudson" and  found the numbers for 1927 Essex therein.

  • Thanks again for all the info Geoff. I might have to look into the book you mentioned "history of Hudson"
