35 Terraplane Mudflaps

I have a 35 Tplane Deluxe and I am near the completion of the restoration.  I have installed the mud flaps for the rear wheels and left front wheel...BUT...I can't figure out the Right wheel.  This vehicle has a side mount spare and I am lost as to how to mount the mud flap.  I would appreciate any help you can provide.

Welcome to the Open Forum, Colinjv!  I'm sure someone can join this discussion to give you the info you need.  You might want to mention your approximate location.  If one of our members happens to have a similar Terraplane and lives near you, you might then be able to go over to look at their car to see how the mudflap is actually mounted.

Since the function of these rubber pieces is as rock guards, stopping stones from up-denting the fenders, I would expect that a sidemounted fender did not use one of the flaps as the tire well would take the impect of the stones tossed up from the tire treads.   I do not recall having the wire bracket hangers inside the sidemounted fender of my '34 Terraplane
  • Thanks for the input fellows.  I live in Elie, Manitoba, Canada.
I kind of suspected that there was no requirement for a mud flap, considering the bulk of the spare tire well.

On my '35 deluxe although right hand drive the wire bracket comes from where the mudguard/ running board join
and returns to the front. The mudflaps line up on each side. I can do a picture on the weekend if that helps.

Everyone reading this thread should be aware that Wildrick Rubber Parts has an outstanding reproduction of these rubber stone guards.   Item #305.   Will last a lifetime I believe.   I have them front and rear on my '34 Terraplane convert.   No side mounts on this car so used all four.positions.
