Hudsons in the wild...

So my family and I are fans of the webshow "Roadkill."  In the last episode the guys were in Tennessee wanting to go to a junk yard and get something running and driving.  Things were pretty far gone in the yard, but my eyes caught a glimpse of a 51 Hornet convertible, 51 Hornet sedan and a 54 Hornet looming in the background.  There were only passing glimpses at them but did they ever get my attention.  Even my 8 year old son was pointing them out.

    Met Sam at the National meet in Tennessee.  Is a club member, very nice guy!

    Nice.... figured with Hudsons being the only drivable thing in his yard.  Small world.

    Sam is obviously an HET member and the son of HET member "Gene" Ramsey. After many years of rebuilding wrecks in Cleveland, Tennessee, Gene retired and moved to Florida. Way back in the early 70's I sold him a parts car 51 convertible.He, his wife and his son (Sammy) came down from Tn. and picked up the parts car with a home made dolly and an old Dodge pickup truck. Towed it back to Tn. and restored it.  As it turned out.. it was actually a 51 Commodore, but that didn't stop Gene. He had just built  the first of MANY Clone Hornet convertibles. Many years later he told me he had "built" over 30 Hornet convertibles from what ever he could find. On that first visit to Florida, Sammy was about 16-18 ??  He "growed up".  Seems like a century ago...   The beat goes on...So... is that Hornet convertible you bought, REALLY a Hornet?

    I'm glad to hear the community is this interconnected.  Have only been a part of it for two years now but it is nice how folks get known and friendships remain after decades.

    I saw those Hudson's in the background also. I found a couple in the wild myself, 51 Hornet, and 52 Pacemaker, working on rebuilding them now.imageimage

    I watched that show last week, and didn't see the Hudson's. I Gotter be more observant in the future.
