Note from Rudy,

this is my 318 1955 Hudson eng that we installed in the 46 and made some Mods. to the turbo intake.  Made a test run today and  I have to learn how to drive it as it had the 262 before and now more C.I. and I don't have to rev this engine as I did with the 262.  WOW,WOW.  Not ready to put the Boost to it yet as the head has to be torqued 4-5 times with cold eng after run-in.

Thanks Kerry, But I need to add to that install project.

I have a TO-3 Turbo on the 308-318 as it came off of the 262 eng that was in the 46 before and now I found out that it needs a TO-4 .The engine runs out of steam very fast and power drops of at high RPM.

The 262 eng is at home with the smaller TO-3 and it ran very good with RPM in the 3-4000  and lower but it does not work well with the 308 that needs more air and fuel.

This winter we hope to install the TO-4 and see if that fixes the problem.

This is a suck through turbo with carb. and does not have the ball bearings as new style turbo.systems do so it has lots of turbo Lag  up to about 2000 RPM but, then it thinks it is a V-8.

We did not take pictures as it was being installed as my son Rick did all of the cut and fit and weld and bend of all parts.

Thanks to all ,Hudsonly   Rudy B.

Well, Rudy, I think that's wickedly cool!  Would like to hear more about the performance you get out of it when you get the bugs worked out.
  • This looks like a whole lot of fun.
  • Very nice.

My goal for my new 308 is turbo and MPFI.

Already running dual 1bbls TBI but plan to swap out to MPFI once it's done.

  • Aw, common Bill. Go all the way with a sequential system...probably no measurable gain, but the bragging rights alone would be worth it!

  • LOL, yep it can be done. But as you say, ROI may be little to none.

I just need time to get my new drive train together and in.
