For some reason I could not link the item number. but a search of Hudson in EBAY motors will show a "1950 Commander" which is clearly a 1949 Commodore... But the Vin # is a 50  ?? Washington State tag in Ft. Lauderdale Fla.. Seller has "0" history.  ?????

Tell them you want a picture of the Vin on the front pass frame rail. Looks to be a lost title that someone took a short to.
  • I feel 99% certain I have seen this car in Olympia back in April or so. Everything in the photos look familiar to a car listed on Seattle Craigslist.  The VIN number of the ride I saw did say it was a 50, and if I remember correctly the engine number matched. It did not look fudged me, the serial plate was appropriately rusty and the pop rivets looked old. Perhaps it was a late production run that the factory kept around for a while? Who knows. Perhaps somebody dropped a 50 engine and vin plate in...

The car could not be made to run, there was an electrical problem with the starter circuit and it would not even click the solenoid. Overall it looked like a decent start. The car sat outside and the door seals leaked pretty bad so the whole interior was more rotted than the photos would indicate. Interior chrome, woodgraining, ect were still pretty OK.  It seemed pretty solid as far as rust is concerned. I passed as it was no better really than my own rusty Hornet. It then showed up at a low budget car auction in Tacoma. It is very possible the thing is not actually in Florida.

  • I should clarify a statement, right now on Miami Craigslist, Hudson section, there is this here same car for $11000. There are some industrial buildings in the background that are the same as was posted in Seattle.
The EBAY photos are probably not in the Seattle area, but I do think its the same car.

The price has dropped to 9k in a subsequent ad.

  • It is not uncommon for a seller to list a car in other cities hoping to find a better market. It is technically not permitted by Cragslist, but it happens a lot anyway. It is always best to look at the car in person to avoid any scams found on the internet these days.
