A sad day for me

i have hummed and hawed for a long time about selling my car or not. I finally decided a month ago that I needed to because I knew the chances of me ever getting it back on the road were slim to non-existant so I advertised it for sale.

Today I accepted an offer and on Tuesday she goes to a new owner. Needless to say I will pass on the details of the club to him and encourage him to join.

So now I am Hudsonless so will need to get my enjoyment in different ways.

Needless to say I will continue in the club for as long as I can and will , as long as I'm needed, continue with my webmaster duties.

As I say a sad day indeed. In terms of real-world tragedies not that great but it is to me

Thanks in multiple ways Paul, for sharing your car with another and for supporting this forum
  • Paul--you are still a Hudsoner at heart.   That's something they can't take away from you.  Hopefully some one geographically close to you will bug you to pick you up and take you to events.   I would if I could.

Look at it this way--you're just a pile of parts and a garage full of pieces different than I...k

    Paul,

We will all give up our Hudson's at some point and we know it. It isn't easy for you and I won't be easy for us. I agree with keithfullmeryaoocom; get out to Hudson events when you can. Stay with us on the forum because you add value to all of us.

Thank you for your work as the Webmaster; it is much appreciated.

We're sorry you had to sell your Hudson but hope you can hang around the old forum; you have been a great help to us, and we don't want to lose your company!

Well Paul welcome to the club.  Took me a lot of finger wringing, and teeth grinding, and should I or should I not,  but I am getting old, and she needs to go to another good person to take care of her, that probably has more money than I do.  Or what the chasing classic car guy says, to another curator of the museum. Purchased from Bill Albright in 2007.  I guess he would approve on the job I did  on her. She is missed....

    Hudson Grandpa.

  • That '54 is an amazing car...k

  • imageDon't feel bad.  I sold my terraplane eight last year, I had it for 50 years and my uncle bought it new. It went to a long time HET member who will enjoy it now

Over the years I have built and sold a lot of cars.  I always say that the current car that I have is the last one--I am through/I quit, and then somehow someone wants it more than I do.  A lot of us have had this experience; but, the funny thing is another one comes along and the story starts all over again.  Of the many cars that I have owned my favorite is the one (s) that I currently have.  You are never too old to start another car and fall in love all over again....  Congrats on your sale and please find another project...see you in California next summer..
  • Paul, Grampa, tombia, please don't go away.  The club needs you, Hudsons need you.  We as members, often trying to restore most definitely need you and your Hudson expertise.
I can't think of a thing more detrimental to the membership than to have old-time Hudson owners replaced by folks just because they can afford to buy a car.  The lore, the culture, the history of these cars is something that cannot be bought.

Hey, At 78, I am not going any where, !! I hope !!.  I will say that I joined the HET in 1963 and have every thing from a 1922 Essex to several 1954's, Maybe some day tho? Was a member for 45 years.

I am currently Hudson-less, having sold both of them after my uncle passed. But they have a way of sucking you back in. The last time I was Hudson-less, I figured I would never own another one but my uncle found a 1954 Super Wasp on a used car lot right at the end of his street! And away we went again. We had great fun with that car, so you just never know ...
