Cowle to Hood lace
I just purchased the new Cowle to hood lace for my 1940. The old lace is completely gone, but the rivets are still there. The new lace came with new rivets that appear to be knock in rivets.
I pulled out a couple of the old rivets and they are the same as he new ones. I tried to knock new rivets through the lace and into the original holes. They won't stick, the pop out.
Do I need to try and get under the cowle and pound the holes to close then up so the new rivets will stick?
Have any of you done this before? How did you make it work?
Thanks,
Marvin

I haven't done this yet but will need to do the same thing to mine. It sounds like a good idea to try to make the holes smaller again. Another idea would be to back up the nail and try to smash the nail by hitting it. Just like a solid rivet. Tell me what you find that works.0

Okay, I will let you know what I do and how it works.

The last time I did this was a few years ago and I used a kit for a Model A Ford. Rivets and all.0
