For those looking for a Twin H alternative don't forget these

I remember that a lot of later Hudson racers used these on round-d-round cars.

  • Very interesting proposition.  I wonder how the gas mileage would compare to the factory twin H.

Wonder if anyone has dynoed a 308 and how much was actually gained?

I know that Bernie Siegfried's last race car used this manifold per his writeup in WTN.  Bernie was one of the best heads of Hudson performance so I would guess he knew what he was doing.  Looking at the Clifford website, they make dual Weber downdraft carb manifolds for just about any inline 6 but Hudson.  Maybe that would be a cool alternative.

As for mileage, I am sure if you (can) keep your foot out of it a 4bbl should be comparable to a 2 x 1.
  • I see that the Hudson header gasket is still boasting "8=9". Has been for years.

It's pretty amazing that a brand new performance intake manifold is still available for a Hudson.  Wonder if that'd fit on a 262.

I think it would fit but you would need to find a somewhat smaller CFM 4bbl.

The 500 CFM Edelbrock might be OK: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/edl-1403/overview/
  • There is such a thing as "too much carburetor" and without commensurate downstream modifications (cam, valves, compression bump, exhaust), it's just pretty much for WOW factor and bragging rights. I'd predict that the right carb would produce some performance improvement over the stock two-holer manifold.

The 232-262-308 all have the same mounting configuration. I once bought a 232 with a 308 Dual carb set-up on it. Needless to say, it wasn't the engine I was after. I'll bet it didn't show any power increase, but I'll never know.

This will help sizing a carb for any of the engines.  As shown a 283 Chevy V8 would size about 341 CFM, although the factory carb was 450.
