Bolt patterns for exhaust pipe and manifold
I ordered a new tailpipe from a company in MI for a 1949 Hudson. Apparently the Twin H manifold that came with the car is from a newer model (my guess is from a 52 or newer) because the bolt pattern on the exhaust pipe sent to me has the holes at 3 and 9 o'clock, which is the same pattern for the exhaust pipe on my 1948. The pattern for the exhaust on the Twin H manifold has the holes at 1 and 7 o'clock. The way I see I have two options: (1) Find the bottom of a manifold from a 48 or 49 and attach it to the Twin H manifold (if it will fit) or (2) take the tailpipe to a welder and have the flange for the bolts repositioned. Which would you guys recommend?
