Introduction
I have loved old cars since before I can remember. I have acquired a 51 Super Custom coupe that is in decent shape, and also a 52
Hornet 4dr and a 53? Super Wasp 4dr as part cars. Hoping to have the Super up and driving soon. Tranny is done, now on to the motor. Love hearing the stories and seeing the looks on people's faces when they talk of their cars of years past. Recently lost a good friend that was my go to for info on the Hudsons, so hoping that I can find the same support here.
Keep them rolling,
Joe

Good for you. Take that engine apart, and check and clean everything and she'll outrun you. You may not need rod and main bearings but probably will need rings. Maybe a valve job. Maybe rebuild the water pump. Definitely rebuild the fuel pump. New points, plugs, condenser probably plug wires.
All those parts are advertised in the WTN club magazine.
Better join the club if you haven't. Mechanical and body manuals are online.
Keep us informed on the progress.

The guy I bought her from started the work on it and then lost interest. The engine is all apart with a lot of NOS parts to put her back together. The 262 has been bored 30 over, new pistons, rings and all of the gaskets. Hopefully it is all there. I have a 308 in the parts Hornet that has the twin H and I may see if that setup will work in my bored over 262? Good or bad idea?
I have attached a picture of her the day she came home. I made my dad tag along, that is him in the picture. He likes the old girl too. He even found me a sun visor at a garage sale of all places. Need the brackets for the drip rails though.
Thanks for the input.

Joe, welcome and a very nice coupe!
Location? What got you into Hudson?0 -
I live in central Nebraska. Approx 30 miles north of Grand Island. I bought the Super Six for $1500 a few years back and work on it when I can. The interior is rough (mice had fun) but at least no rust. The car only has a bit over 40k and has been sanded down and primed. The trunk hinge color makes our body shop guys around here think military. Is there any way to find out if it is? Plus there is a sticker on the windshield saying that the paint has been porcelainized(sp?). Any help on that one?
I was a member of the HET but let it lapse accidentally, but do plan on getting back in. I still talk to a couple of the local members every so often.

Look on the upper right side door hinge and see if you can see the stamped letters. This should be the factory paint code. Many times the hinge is too badly rusted.

Welcome Joe.
Love those tail lights!

in the 1970s, I was a Nebraska HETer and member of the Nebraska Iowa HET chapter. This chapter is still going strong. Members are very helpful and are a great source of assistance to Hudson owners. Long time club member Melvin Falk passed away this spring. His brother who is a partner in the HET car and parts business is focused on trying to sell much of their decades long collection of HET cars and parts. Check your original membership roster for contact information. Do, rejoin and contact the NI chapter you will be happy that you did. Good to see your postings.
