Hydramatic Adjustment Question
I have the Hudson HydraMatic manual, but it is not telling me what I need to know. My dual range shifted at the proper speeds until I changed the bell crank and added Twin H. I did the basic set up by the book at the time I installed everything, Now the shift points are too high and therefor, harsh. Do I shorten or lengthen the kick down rod? The book pretty much says if the shift points are wrong, adjust the linkage! What say the gurus?

Dave, I'm not a HD guru, but I believe you would lengthen the rod at ever so small a turn on the nuts. My '54 was suffering from harsh shift points at lower speeds and I found by slightly adjusting the rod a bit longer everything smoothed out.

Thanks Jerry. I just experimented until it worked. Was difficult due to the dual master cylinder and booster on the firewall blocking me from seeing and working on it..0

Which way did you end up moving it, Dave? I'm sure I'll have a similar problem...0
