The current Gem State newsletter has an article about camshaft timing on the big six by the late Jack Clifford.  It can be confusing as stated that there are 8 links.  That's correct if you go to the center of the 8 links, which is only 7 complete links, or 14 pitches, per the Mechanical Procedures Manual.
