Hudson convertible top

I am not a StepDown person, but there ARE companies out there who can supply ready-made tops (in either canvas or vinyl), for installation by yourself or a top shop. However, you may want to talk to Hudson owners who have purchased tops from specific manufacturers, to make sure they fit correctly. A friend purchased a top for his '54 convertible several years ago, from a company and -- try and we might -- we just could not get it to fit correctly. My friend eventually sold the car and the purchaser had to have the canvas top modified to fit correctly, so it definitely was a problem in the manufacture.

Bob was the name given to me as well. I haven't ordered it yet, but it will be needed before summer is over. Sta-fast top with pads going to run about $775 including shipping. He must have several numbers, number I had was 908-608-0059.0

You might try this company (but--again-- ask at the forum to see if anyone has used them before) -- http://www.convertibletopguys.com/convertible/2748/Hudson-Convertible-1950
Acme has been making tops and headliners since the 1940's, for most cars including Hudsons, but for some reason they don't list Hudson. Ask them anyway. I think they only sell through dealers, not direct. http://www.acmeautoheadlining.com/cobo1.htmlhttp://
ARO is another old-line company which (I'm fairly sure) has tops for Hudsons. He even has pre-War Hudson top patterns. http://www.aro2000.com/810_order_form.htm
No experience with these guys, and their prices are suspiciously low. They seem to only offer tops made in vinyl (most places will give you a choice of vinyl or Stayfast canvas). http://tops4less.com/convertible-tops-hudson-48.html#.WOf-9qK1u70
But actually, if you want to be safe, it would probably benefit you to work through a Hudson specialist.
Bob's Auto Top in Summit, NJ. Bob is a Hudson guy and has dealt with a lot of these tops for decades, and knows which companies do the best job. Bob can order you a top and can install it too, if you like. 908-273-2370.
Onerare (above) suggests Wildrick -- I wasn't aware they did convertible tops but it pays to ask. They are certainly Hudson experts!
